Getting ready to re-publish Triggers

August is the month I plan to do two things: The first is go on a two week fast. And then while on the fast I plan to complete the first major revision to my book Triggers. I wrote my last two books while on a fast. I’d like to hear from those of you who benefited from my first version of Triggers and the best ten entries will get a free copy of my book.     I have you to thank for introducing me to the concept of persuasion triggers.

    When I first got into direct response copywriting, I read a lot of articles on the internet and listened to a lot of audios. I was pretty careful to only read/listen to the top guys.

    But all the material became a “glob” in my mind. I understood what I was reading, but I wasn’t having much success putting it all together.

    Then I purchased your book, “Triggers”. I began to see persuasion as a distinct part of sales letters. And from there everything I was studying came together.

    I have just finished reading ‘The Adweek Copywriting Handbook’. Having just finished university, I have to say I wish I’d not bothered with the past 4 years and instead just picked up a copy of your book. I am certain that I have learnt more in terms of how to sell during the 4/5 days reading your work than I did throughout my whole course!

    Wow! I can’t believe I found this blog. Joe your adweek copywriting handbook literally saved my business. Thank you so much for putting that out. We refer all our friends with businesses to your wonderful publications. Have you considered doing a book on how to go about buying ad space, negotiating with publications and what kind of results one should expect per ad dollar etc. (everything else involved in the biz. beyond copy)? I would be first in line to purchase it.

    p.s. I am an airbus pilot for a major us carrier and am not at all surprised with your poor treatment. Common sense has long gone from this industry. I can’t carry a leather man on board but can have an ax. I am searched by tsa yet can carry a gun. just crazy!

    Hi Joe,

    I was aware of that book but thought it was mail order specific, I am ordering it today.

    I learned of your flying experience and really enjoyed reading about it in your books. The Duke is possibly the best looking twin engine ever made, today they actually install pt-6 turbines in them and make those old birds real performers. I fly mostly the A-320/1 series but have experience in everything from c-152 on up.

    “Triggers” rocks! Two years ago I was a cubicle rat hating every day I had to drag my butt into the office for the unfulfilling job I couldn’t stand. I decided to put up or shut up and do something about it, so I started selling a book/info-product I had written online, but I had NO IDEA what I was doing. I had never built a website or sold ANYTHING in my life, I had never even heard the word “copywriter”. My sales page sucked, and then I bought The Ad Week Copywriting Handbook and Triggers, and things started to click. Sales started coming, I improved my copy, got some more sales, rinse, repeat, and now everything is different. With the help of Triggers and the preposterously fantastic education you gave me through your books, I now have not ONE product in Clickbank’s top 10 for my category, but FOUR PRODUCTS in the top ten! I quit my job long ago, have more than enough financial security for my family, and honest to God LOVE what I do.

    In the past two years I’ve read 83 books on marketing and copywriting, and spent at least $10,000 on various programs to improve my marketing and copy chops. Out of those 83 books and probably 50 hours of other material, Triggers is one of the 10 or so books I plan on reading every year to make sure I’m doing things RIGHT and keeping my business on track and primed for growth. I’ve already read it at least three times, and I think it improved my bottom line each time. I honestly don’t think anyone needs any other book or program on copy if they have Triggers and The Ad Week Copywriting Handbook, there’s nothing that you didn’t already cover, and cover BETTER.

    I wrote you a thank you letter the first time I read your books because they helped so much, so I’ll say it again…THANKS!
